The shivling has a shape which makes it very easy for water to fully run through it and then fall from the yoni. The shivling stone is very soft , although not very brittle. The shivling is a must have for Shravan Maas poojan. You can do a proper dugdhabhishekam or pour water onto it. Ghee or Til Oil or Full cream milk used for Poojan abhishekam of this shiv lingam will make it turn black into color.
